Exports of Geodata from the OpenStreetMap project

Data Exports

Geodata is an essential component for analyzing problems with a spatial reference. Very large datasets reveal competitively relevant information when they are extended by a spatial dimension.

Commercial versus free geodata

It is possible to use commercial data for such analyses or to use free data. Free data is often the more favorable choice due to the nature of its licenses.

The most comprehensive data collection of free geoinformation can undoubtedly be found in the data of the OpenStreetMap project. So why not use this data?

Example of geodata enrichment

It should be noted that the data from this project is collected by users and is often incomplete to varying degrees. In very general terms, however, this data can be improved with “itself”.

Here is an example: The power lines in the project are usually provided with voltages and often run past substations. These substations sometimes have no information on the voltages that are processed there. By relating the lines to the substations, i.e. looking at where a line touches a substation, the information from the line can be transferred to the substation using data technology. In this sense, a great deal of existing information can be supplemented and expanded, which is retrieved from a different content level. The basis for this is always the spatial relationship between these data.

If you need exports from the OSM data, we can provide you with help and advice. In addition to many existing exports/enrichments, we are also happy to work individually for you.
